We are proud to announce we opened our second holiday home in 2024. Our newest holiday home is at Haven Rockley Park, Poole.
During lockdown we reviewed our services and realised there are over 30 families who could not use our caravan as it is not accessible to larger wheelchairs. Accessible holidays are not easy to find and often booked well in advance.
So, we got to work and after a few years of negotiating, fundraising and renovation our charity purchased a 30-year-old wheelchair-
adapted chalet in Poole (for a particularly decent price!). We decided we would spend 2024 trialling whether we would keep both Amelia’s Retreat and Amelia’s Haven. Each property can offer 40 free holidays for families to spend time away from hospital making special moments and bonds together. As we approach the end of our first season, we have reflected that both properties have been full and a success. As hoped, we saw Wheelchair users spending time at Haven Rockley Park and those with life-limiting illnesses all using Hoburne Naish.
The chalet caravan consists of a double bed, 2 single beds which can be moved and a double sofa bed – sleeps 6 in total. Bathroom has an accessible shower and outside has ramp access up to the caravan.
