Lewis

 

“Lewis is 10 and the only one in the world with his unique chromosome disorder. Amelia’s Rainbow has been a shining light at the end of a very dark tunnel at times. AR first got involved in 2017 when Lewis was gifted an iPad with a communications app on it. Lewis is non-verbal and after 10 minutes of having the iPad he had found his voice and was bossing us around. It was such a delight to everyone, especially him as he suddenly had a voice after all these years. Our amazing journey with AR had began and later that year we experienced our first Toy Appeal. The Elves visited with a sack full of carefully picked presents for both Lewis and his sister Lily-Grace. The smiles on their faces said it all!!!!

 

Since then we have been invited to many events including the extremely exciting Air Smiles day. We got to go up in a private plane and we were all treated like royalty for the day. It was an experience that we would never have been able to do if it was not for Amelia’s Rainbow. We also got to stay in Amelia’s Retreat for a week and enjoy our first family holiday together.

Last year Lewis had a special adapted trike funded by AR and this has enabled him to gain some independence and more importantly he has some freedom to be a little boy.  He can now go exploring with his sister on their bikes together which is something they could never have done without the trike.

Without AR’s help and support we would never have been able to have these experiences and be able to make family memories that we cherish and they will stay with all of us for ever.
